Math

This term, we have completed units in patterning and sorting.  We are currently exploring number to 20.
In the patterning unit, the children had practice describing, extending, reproducing and creating patterns of 2-4 elements.  They were also expected to translate patterns from one representation to another.  In the sorting activities, the children learned to sort various objects using a single attribute.  They learned to carefully observe a set of objects for attributes such as size, shape, colour, brightness/dullness, distinguishing features, etc.  The students are all able to sort objects using more than one attribute.

This past week we have been measuring, estimating, counting, graphing and making patterns in our 'Hallowe'en Centres".  Please play card, dice and board games with your children.  What a fun way to learn and practice social skills such as being a gracious loser or winner and turn taking, as well as math skills.
