Today Mrs. Elderton came in to read us a wonderful story called "GIFTS". I was reminded of how enjoyable it is to be read to. Each child was given a copy of the book, compliments of TD Bank Group, to keep. Thank you for listening to your child read their home reading books each day. Please keep reading and discussing story books each day as well. What an enjoyable way to spend time with your little ones. What a wonderful way to expose them to new ideas, new vocabulary and the way language works.
We have been doing '4 corner sharing' every Friday. The 'presenter' shares with small groups of children rather than with the whole class. The children are learning to actively listen to the presenter, then ask questions, and finally give a positive comment. They then rotate to the new presenter. Oral language skills improve each time the presenter shares and the audience, being in a small group, has many more chances to participate. The children have been doing a very good job!
